Seattle WordCamp 2013 at University of Washington

I am excited to attend this year’s Seattle WordCamp 2013. I’ve been lucky enough to attend WordCamp in SF, but this is the first time in Seattle. This is also the first time I will be speaking at WordCamp. As a seasoned DrupalCamp speaker, I am excited to get more involved in the WordPress community.

Seattle WordCamp 2013 – University of Washington June 8h

For the last few years I have been working more with WordPress than I have with Drupal. Since most of my clients are private practices, their needs are best meet with WordPress. WordPress tends to be easier to style, easier to develop, and easier for the client to use. Unless you are a complete novice in the industry, you also know WordPress is significantly more affordable.

At Seattle WordCamp 2013 I will be speaking as part of a panel on “Building a Community with WordPress”. This is due in part to my presentation at Drupal Camp LA titled “Huff, Puff, and Webonomics”. In that presentation I discuss and describe the success of a two fabulously successful online properties, The Huffington Post and WeedMaps.com. As most people know the Huffington Post is a commentary outlet that was originated by Arianna Huffington in 2005. By 2011 the web publication sold for $315 million dollars.

WeedMaps.com is a less known web publication, except by it’s target market. WeedMaps.com is an informational website and community forum for people who are seeking information about cannabis dispensaries, physicians, and other related information. WeedMaps.com generates $1.5 million per month in listing fees and attracts 50,000 visitors per day. Until recently, WeedMaps was a publicly traded company.

To learn more about these companies please attend my session. To learn more about Seattle WordCamp 2013 take a look at the wonderful demographics provided in the file below. Click on the file and you will be taken to the Camp website.

Fabulous! I’ve heard you speak before Ms Lauramba. You’re a wonderful speaker and very knowledgeable yet can tailor your tone and jargon to the intellectual level of your audience. You are always fresh and current with your topics. I so much look forward to hearing you in Seattle at WordCamp this year!
